HOW TO MEASURE YOUR YARD FOR TURF

One of the first and most important steps is knowing exactly how much turf you need. In this video, we’ll walk you through how to measure your yard accurately.

Once you have your measurements, use our Turf Area Calculator below to calculate the total amount of turf you need for your yard.

Use the turf calculator below to calculate the area of each shape and the grand total of your lawn area in square metres. This gives you the total square metres of turf to order. Add a few extra square metres to your order in case you fall short or need offcuts.

Sketch

To measure the area of your planned lawn, prepare a sketch including any paths, gardens, pool etc.

Break Up Into Shapes

Break up the lawn areas into shapes e.g. circle, square, triangle for easier calculations.

Measure Each Shape

Use a tape measure to record actual dimensions (height and width) for each shape.

Order Your Turf

The total square metres from the calculator is the amount you need to order. We recommend adding a few extra square metres to your order (round up by about 5%) in case you fall short or need offcuts.

We harvest in both turf rolls & slabs:

One turf roll is equal to 1m2. Our turf rolls are 1.8m long & 0.585m wide.
One turf slab is equal to 0.5m2. Our turf slabs are 1.25m long & .400m wide.

The thickness of our turf cuts is approximately 30-35mm (the thickness of turf is only an approximation and can vary slightly depending on the conditions at the time of harvesting).
