You Need To Take Action Now Before The Prickles Come Back!
Bindii is one of the most annoying weeds due to the pain it causes us when we step on it! It is a low growing weed with a flow at the centre. Once mature, the flower produces a prickly seed pod. This becomes a menace in the warmer months when we want to enjoy our lawns!
Treatment
While Bindii can be pulled out, you can also use a selective broadleaf herbicide such as Bin-Die or an All Purpose Weed Control. By spraying all affected areas with the selective herbicide the Bindii should die off in around 7-10 days. These products will help to eradicate Bindii and are safe to use on most varieties of buffalo except the ST varieties.
A couple of repeat applications may be required in order to kill off Bindies that continue to emerge.
Bindii grows in the Winter and go to seed in early Spring. The best time to target Bindii is in Winter before it produces the seed pod and spreads throughout your lawn.
The best way to keep on top of Bindii is through prevention by regularly fertilising and watering. You can grab a fertiliser from our office or view our Lawn Care Page to learn more. Regular water and fertilising will help your lawn stay healthy and less prone to weeds. Raising your lawn mower height is particularly important in winter and will help you to avoid scalping of your grass. Scalping will also make your lawn more susceptible to weed invasion. When weeds do occur, it is important to take action early. That way you can get on top of them before they are more difficult to manage.
