Autumn Lawn Tips
Our immediate and surrounding areas are classified as a warm season climate, meaning majority of home lawns have warm season grasses to accommodate. All warm season grass varieties will become dormant over the colder months, so Autumn is a great time to make sure your lawn is fit, healthy and strong for the harsh colder weather ahead of it.
Autumn is an ideal opportunity to bring the life back into your lawn after the busy summer periods and prepare it for winter.
We strongly recommend and encourage fertilizing three times a year, Autumn being one of them and the most important. Fertilising in Autumn is vital as your lawn requires a good feed before winter to encourage healthy root development, gain a good winter colour and overall health of the lawn. After all the stronger the lawn, the harder it is for weeds to poke through over winter. We use and recommend Sir Walter Fertiliser that is available through our lawn store, as it has been specially put together by Australia’s top turf farmers and is perfect for all lawns!
Generally speaking (depending on your area) you should aim to have all your Autumn lawn activities completed prior to Easter to insure you have not left it too late.
